ARIAC WP1 meeting 8/5/24, BeCentral

This academic year's meeting of the researchers working on or interested in the topics of the ARIAC WP1 on Human-AI interaction will take place on Wednesday 8 May afternoon at BeCentral, with support from FARI, the Brussels AI Institute for the Common Good.

BeCentral is situated at Cantersteen 10/12, 1000 Brussels, right above the Central Station (map), easily reachable from anywhere in Belgium.

Speakers

Vincenzo Tiani (PhD Researcher at VUB; Partner at PANETTA)

LL.M. graduate in IP and ICT Law from KU Leuven, specializes in privacy and personal data protection. He previously worked at the European Parliament on European Copyright reform and later joined EDRi and CDT, advocating for online fundamental rights. Since 2018, he has been an Adjunct Professor at IULM University in Milan, teaching copyright and data protection. Additionally, he is a Member of the Hermes Center for Transparency and Digital Human Rights.
Currently, he serves as a Resident Partner at Panetta Law Firm in Brussels, pursuing a Ph.D. at VUB and acting as Programme & Dissemination Coordinator at the Brussels Privacy Hub. He also teaches Data Regulation at the EDHEC Business School in Lille (France) and has recently joined the OECD expert group on AI, data and privacy.

Naira López Cañellas (DIGITAL SME; Technological University of Dublin)

With a background in Philosophy, Politics and Economics (BA) and Transnational Governance (MA), she is part of a team of researchers working in the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (ITN) project Collaborative Intelligence for Safety Critical Systems (CISC). While pursuing her PhD in Ethical and Social Implications of the Use of Real-Time Data-Gathering Devices in Workplace (Technological University of Dublin), she is part of the Policy Team at the European DIGITAL SME Alliance, where she specialises in current and upcoming European legislation on AI, Data, and other related fields.

Carl Mörch (FARI)

Carl Mörch is co-director of FARI – AI for the Common Good Institute (ULB-VUB) and a member of the AI Ethics & Law Board of the Federal initiative AI4Belgium. He is also a member of the Ethics Special Interest Group of CLAIRE and a co-chair of CLAIRE Brussels office.
